Our mission is to support the maintenance, operation, and long-term preservation of Riverside National Cemetery by managing an endowment fund, organizing meaningful national holiday ceremonies, and advancing programs that honor the service and sacrifice of our veterans.

West Coast Thunder is one of the most powerful Memorial Day tributes held in Southern California, honoring the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice. Each year thousands of motorcycle riders gather in a dramatic display of patriotism and remembrance, riding together in tribute to America’s fallen heroes.

Every Memorial Day morning, the roar of thousands of motorcycles fills the air as riders assemble across the Inland Empire before beginning their journey toward Riverside National Cemetery. The event begins with an opening ceremony, often including a color guard and patriotic tributes honoring the men and women who gave their lives in service to the nation.

When the ride begins, the thunder of engines becomes a powerful symbol of unity and remembrance. Thousands of riders—many of them veterans—travel together in a massive escorted procession through the streets of Riverside. Along the route, families, veterans, and community members line the sidewalks waving American flags and saluting as the procession passes.

For many participants, the ride is deeply personal. Some carry the names of fallen service members, others ride in memory of brothers and sisters in arms, and many simply ride to ensure that the sacrifices of America’s heroes are never forgotten.

The event began in 2000 when a small group of riders organized a Memorial Day ride to the cemetery to participate in its remembrance ceremony. What started with only a handful of motorcycles has grown into the largest Memorial Day motorcycle ride west of the Mississippi, drawing thousands of participants every year.

Today, West Coast Thunder is more than a ride—it is a rolling tribute of patriotism and gratitude. The rumble of the motorcycles echoes across the city as a reminder that freedom is not free, and that the courage and sacrifice of America’s fallen heroes will always be remembered. 🇺🇸🏍️
